Happy New Year 2012

すっかり明けてしまいましたが、おめでとうございます。
年末年始を忙しく過ごしましたので、新たな気持ちで2012年をあらためて迎えたいと思います。
今年もどうぞよろしくお願いします。

I had so busy days in the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012,
I feel finally I start brand-new year.

京都でアニメーションワークショップをします

2011/9/17（土）と18（日）、京都市美術館の講演室というところで、
１０時から午後４時半まで、大学生対象のアニメーションワークショップをします。
参加者はあらかじめ募集した京都嵯峨芸術大学、京都精華大学、京都造形芸術大学、京都市立美術大学、大阪成蹊大学からの学生達で、当日参加はできませんが、見学は自由です。
「Daumenreise 」プロジェクトの２３本目の結果は、国民文化祭京都で発表します。
上映は１０月３０日の予定です。

I will do an animation workshop from tomorrow for 2 days, on 17th and 18th of September.
Attendees are students from Kyoto Saga Art University, Kyoto Seika University, Kyoto University of Arts and Design, Kyoto City University of Arts and Osaka Seikei University.
Unfortunately you can not join into the workshop but welcome to have a look.
The film as the result of this Daumenreise project 23 will be shown on 30th of October.

ガムランワークショップ

先週に引き続き、昨日、大阪音大の音楽博物館で開催された
ガムランワークショップへ行きました。
ガムランて、鉄琴みたいですが、とても響くので、
次の音をならすときに、前の音を消す作業が必要で、
つまりさっき右手のばち（？）で叩いたところを、
左手で押さえるという、まるで脳トレのような。
一生懸命になってしまうし、参加者で合奏すると綺麗でうっとりするし
隣と響かせる事を考えて一緒に演奏することが
一体感を生んで、とてもとても楽しみました。

Yesterday I went to a Gamelan Workshop wihch was held at Osaka College of Music
museum. Gamelan is a bit like a glockenspiel, but we must stop the first sound when we
play the next sound. It means make a sound with right hand, then right hand would go to
the next sound, and in the same time left hand should work to stop the first sound.
It is simple but quite complicated if we started to do.
Gamelan sounds are beautiful, especially when we play with many people.
2 slightly different pitch instrument were set next each other and divide one melody
for 2 sometimes. I really enjoyed the harmony of the sound and sharing this experience
together. Music is great.

ドイツ国旗 German flag

ワークショップにはいつもコピックスケッチ２４色を３セット持って行き、
片付けやすいようにセットごとに３色のビニールテープを巻いておくのだが
ドイツへ持って行ったテープが黒、赤、黄だったので、
生徒が質問「ドイツ国旗に合わせたんですか？」…偶然だけど楽しいね。
学生に作業を手伝ってもらうと、ぐるっと一周巻き付けないで、テープを短く切って
コピックにチョコっと貼る。
ドイツらしいなあ〜！

On my Daumenreise workshop, I usually bring 3 sets of 24 colors of design markers.
For putting in order easily, I put 3 different colored tape on each set.
I brought black, red and yellow to Germany, then a student found those 3 colors were
German flag colors. I liked it.
By the way they didn't wind tapes around but cut tapes as very short pieces and put on markers, it is very German way for me.

できた！ I did it !

ここ何年も「いつかやらなきゃ」と思っていたウェブサイト更新。Daumenreiseシリーズなんて22までもうあるのに、7で止まっていた…のが、やっとできました！8/31らしい感じです…。学生時代もいつも、宿題って最初の数日で半分以上済ませて、でも仕上げるのは夏休み最後の日だったのを思い出します。

In these several years, I have been thinking "someday I shoud" put new information to my web-sitebut finally today I did it ! For example, now there are 22 Daumenreise films but on my old web site, I introduced only 7 Daumenreise. Today is 31st of August, it is really Japanese student's day to complete summer home work.

もうすぐ出発 Departure soon

とてもとても久しぶりなブログ更新です。
３月２日から１５日までポルトガルのリスボン
３月１６日から２２日までイタリアのルッカで「Daumenreise」ワークショップをしてきました。
２つ続けては初めてなので、大変でしたが、やはり「エンジェル」（助けてくれる人をそう呼んでいます）に出会いました。素晴らしいです。

行く前にNHK教育「いないいないばあっ」の今年の分のアニメーション
「やさしいタングラム」（コーナーの合間にちょこっと出るジングルです）
１本あたり１５〜３０秒を１０本仕上げました。
そこでも色々な方にお世話になりました。

ルッカの後、一日だけ日本に帰り、次の日に中国の上海へ行きました。
制作と移動が続いて、後片付けに明け暮れていたら次の出発（５月３１日）が
こんなに近づいています。まずウィーンへ行き、６月１７日からイタリアのストレーザで
ワークショップをします。７月にはウィーンのミュージアウムクオーター内で展示をして
８月末に帰国の予定です。

ところで、「Facebook」を始めました。まだ使い方があまりわかりませんが、
「アヌシーに行く人リスト」などがぱっと出るのには驚きました。
グーグルアースや、ビデオチャットもですが、ほんと「未来」ですね。

It was long time since I wrote this blog last time.
I had 2 Daumenreise workshop at Lisbon, Portugal and Lucca, Italy
in March. It was hard but again some "Angel" came out and gave me great help.
Animation world is fantastic.
Before going there, I have done new very short animations for NHK educational channel.
10 pieces of 15 to 30 seconds. I got great help for that again also.

After Lucca, I went back to Japan for one day and then went to Shanghai, China.
I needed sometime to come back to usual days after so many trips and moving around.
Then now the next trip will come soon, the departure will be on 31st of May.
I will go to Vienna, Austria first then go to Stresa, Italy for next workshop from 17th of June.
I will do another small exhibition in Vienna in July and will come back to Japan in the end of August.

By the way, I start to use "facebook" finally. I don't know how to use quite well,
but "Annecy list" surprised me. Now it is in the future already, like google earth,
video chat and facebook...

落下の王国 The Fall

映画「落下の王国」ー美しい映像にはそれだけでも意味があるけど、お話もすごく心に響いた。
アニメーションの部分があって、作者はもしかして？と思ったら当たってた。嬉しかった。
私も長編映画の監督はできなかったとしても、いつか美しい映画のアニメーション部分を担当できたらいいなと思った。

A film "The Fall"; not only because of the beautiful visual, but also I was moved by the story a lot.
There is an animation part in this film and I am glad that my guess was right who has made.
I wish I would be able to make an animation part in such a beautiful film someday.

アニメーションと水泳 Animation and Swimming

意識しないと家で机に向かいっぱなしになってしまうので、
運動不足解消と気分転換を兼ねて２時間ほど水泳に行った。
水泳は苦手だったけど、去年
「水泳って、『体の動き』と『水の流れに乗る』と『息つぎ』のコンビネーションだ！
ってことは、『画』と、『動き』と『音に乗せる』のアニメーションと一緒だ！」と
思った途端に息つぎが楽になって長く泳げるようになった。
かつて25mを泳げず夏休みも学校に呼び出されて特訓されてもヘナヘナだったのに、
今日は500m続けて泳げた。アニメーションも続けて行こう。

Naturally, I just continue to work on my desk. Today I went to a swimming pool nearby,
to do sports and for having a break. I was quite bad at swimming.
But last year, I found out; "Swimming is a combination of "body movement", "find/ride on water"and "rhysm of breath", it is similar to Animation's combination of "picture", "animate" and "sound sync". Then suddenly I could breath smooth and could swim much better.
When I was at school, I should go to special class for swimming at every summer holidays,
since I could not swim for 25m. Today I made my new record, 500m without any pause.
I would like to continue making animation too.
